Overview
A QR code is a type of digital password that allows customers to access any ACTAtek device equipped with a built‑in camera. For example, the ACTA4‑1K‑P‑C (PIN model with built‑in camera) supports QR code access without requiring a Facial model or Smart Card model.
Google Authenticator
Google Authenticator is a mobile app that generates verification codes for two‑step verification, adding an extra layer of security. After a user has accessed the ACTAtek device using Facial recognition, Fingerprint, Smart Card,QR Code or Password, they will then be required to enter the Google Authenticator code as the second factor of authentication.
Download and install the Google Authenticator app from the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
Log in to the ACTAtek Web UI, go to Authentication Log Setup, and enable GAuth Mode as two‑factor authentication.
Log in to your ACTAtek or AMS account on your computer. In the user account section, click the KEY button next to the G Authenticator Key to enable the passcode key.
A QR code will be generated and displayed on the screen.
Open the Google Authenticator app, tap the plus (+) icon, select Scan a QR code, and point your camera at the QR code on your computer screen. The app will add your ACTAtek or AMS account.
Click Save User to finish creating the QR code user. You can share the QR code via email, print, or save as an image file.
At the ACTAtek device, scan the QR code. The device will prompt for a 6‑digit passcode. Open the app and enter the verification code shown next to your account name. Access is granted when both credentials (QR + passcode) match.
For AMS or AMS SaaS, the QR code icon will not appear until a Smart Card number is entered and saved.
When accessing the device using a mobile device’s saved QR code, maintain at least 20 cm distance for reliable scanning.
For printed hardcopy QR codes, ensure the size is exactly 3.5 cm × 3.5 cm for proper readability.
The QR code provided is a standard string; it does not require querying any server for data.
The function uses TOTP (Time‑based One‑Time Password), compliant with RFC 6238.
No internet access or connection to Google servers is required.
The device itself generates the verification codes locally.
Important: The device’s date and time must be correct to ensure proper TOTP validation.
