May we have the steps about how to migrate the AMS from the existing AMS server to another new AMS one?

Solution

Step-by-Step Instructions to Migrate AMS Server

  1. Install AMS on the New Server:

    • Download the same or a newer version of AMS and install it on the new AMS backup/migration server/PC.
    • Ensure that the installation is properly completed by following the instructions for your version of AMS. Make sure the system requirements such as firewall settings, database connectivity (e.g., SQL or Oracle), and network settings are correctly configured.

    Note:

    • Contact ACTAtek support team at [email protected] for details about AMS licenses. You will need the Purchase Order (PO) number or PO file related to the AMS licenses or renewals.
    • Provide the new AMS product key after 1st time Login to the AMS web page so that the support team can generate the AMS key for the new backup/migration server.
  2. Check Event Logs Synchronisation:

    • Log in to the registered device's web page and navigate to the [Terminal List] web page.
    • Check the status of the last event logs and ensure they show “Synchronized” before proceeding to the migration. This confirms that the current AMS server has received all recent  and up-to-date event logs data.
  3. Backup the SQL Database of Existing AMS:

    • Take a full SQL database backup from the existing AMS server. Use the SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or equivalent software for Oracle if applicable.
    • Store the *.bak file in a location that is easily accessible by the new AMS server.
  4. Restore the SQL Database on the New Server:

    • On the new AMS backup/migration server, use SSMS (or Oracle tools) to restore the .bak database file from the existing server.
    • Once restored, open AMS, go to [System Setting] -> [Configure Database], and  finish the AMS database setting with the restored AMS db name, and then click [Setup]->[Upgrade] button .
    • After the AMS database is configured and upgraded, continue to finish the [Configure Server] setup.
    • Now the new AMS backup/migration server should be ready.
  5. Unregister Devices from the Old AMS Server and Register to New AMS:

    • Log in to each registered ACTAtek device .
    • Unregister the device from the old AMS server.
    • Re-register the device with the new AMS backup/migration server via its new endpoint URL (new IP address or domain name).
    • Click [Set]->[Register] button ,and wait for the device registration process to complete.

    Note:

    1. Before re-registering with the new AMS server, it is suggested to perform a System Backup of each device (*.bin file) after un-register from the old AMS server. And please take note that the device will be temporarily out of service during the backup system and the device registration process.
    2. For upgrades from AMS version 1.2.3.85 or 1.2.4.x to 1.2.5.5, please provide the AccessManager_ac file located at the following hidden folder path:
      C:\ProgramData\ACTAtek\AccessManager\
    • This will allow the support team to generate the new AMS version’s license file for the new server.
